Polson Middle School is located on the Flathead Indian Reservation. It is an open reservation. There are racial tensions between native and non native students. There are three tribes on the Reservation: Pend d’ Orelle Salish, Flathhead Salish and the Kootenai, all having distinct cultural differences, racial tensions and prejudices.

Projects We Support
Expansion of First Year Student Produced News Programs to Add Cultural Events to the Broadcasts
To educate the students, we will add internal cultural events to our broadcasts. The student reporters will be going out to locations on the reservation working with the tribal elders and cultural committees. In addition to current cultural topics tribal councilman and cultural committee chairman have agreed to work with the students in selecting and producing historical features about the Flathead Reservation. The Salish and Kootenai College media instructor will collaborate with our students on how to integrate the mixers, and microphones on these features.
