Donate Along With Us Funding Area: Poverty Alleviation
Heartland International is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois. Established in 1989, the organization designs, implements, and manages political, economic and social development projects, as well as international education exchange programs.
Through its programs, Heartland International seeks to:
– bring to bear the traditionally underutilized resources of the Midwestern United States on international programs;
– act as a catalyst in strengthening emerging democratic institutions;
– provide training and technical assistance to encourage microenterprise development;
– support the role of women in economic, political and social affairs in emerging democracies;
– provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between the U.S. and foreign policymakers;
– promote mutual understanding between various segments of U.S. society and their international counterparts.

Projects We Support
Building Enterprise through
Association Development – Tanzanian Association of Women Entrepreneurs
The objective of this program is to enhance business management skills of Tanzanian women. Heartland International’s assistance to TAWE (Tanzanian Association of Women Entrepreneurs) is primarily provided through the Building Enterprise though Association Development (BEAD) program and L.E.A.D. – Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Advocacy & Development.
Support Dates: July, 2008 – June, 2009
