Brandeis University is a community of scholars and students united by their commitment to the pursuit of knowledge and its transmission from generation to generation. As a research university, Brandeis is dedicated to the advancement of the humanities, arts, and social, natural and physical sciences. As a liberal arts college, Brandeis affirms the importance of a broad and critical education in enriching the lives of students and preparing them for full participation in a changing society, capable of promoting their own welfare, yet remaining deeply concerned about the welfare of others.
Our involvement: Martin Tomberg established The Tomberg Family Endowment Fund and The Helen and Philip Brecher New Student Forum. In addition, The Tomberg Family Philanthropies has financially supported this organization. Gail Tomberg and Charles Tomberg attended Brandeis.

The Tomberg Family Endowment Fund provides research support to tenure-track faculty in the humanities, social sciences and creative arts.

The Helen and Philip Brecher New Student Forum
The Helen and Philip Brecher New Student Forum brings the entire first-year class together with members of the faculty, providing them with a sense of belonging to a special university dedicated to humanistic studies. The students read and discuss a different, timely, book each year with the author and members of the faculty.
