Andrew Mason served on the Advisory Board from its inception until November, 2008. He is a Senior Economist working on social protection issues in the World Bank’s Latin America and Caribbean region. He is co-author of the recent World Bank Policy Research Report “Engendering Development — Through Gender Equality in Rights, Resources, and Voice”. Since coming to the World Bank in 1994, Dr. Mason has worked on a number of issues related to economic and social policy, including gender, poverty and vulnerability, labor market policy, and education. Prior to joining the World Bank, Dr. Mason worked as a policy analyst for the Harvard Institute for International Development in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he focused on poverty as well as on trade and industrial policy analysis. He has worked in several other countries as well, including Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.

Dr. Mason holds a Ph.D. in applied economics from Stanford University and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from Harvard University.
