What is Philanthropy?

Philanthropy goes beyond charity by attempting to address the underlying causes of social problems rather than only providing immediate assistance to those in need.


What is Charity?

About Our Grants


The following is a description of our grants.

1) The Tomberg Family Philanthropies only makes grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in the United States.

2) Our grants normally range from $5,000 to $15,000. Grants of up to $25,000 may be considered in very exceptional cases.

3) We primarily support projects in the areas of the environment and poverty alleviation. We also occasionally make grants in the areas of health and education.

4) Requests for continued support over multiple years will be considered.

5) In most cases, the Tomberg Family Philanthropies will make grants to support individual projects only. We generally will not make grants to fund the general operational expenses of non-profit groups.

6) We do not make grants to religious organizations or to fund projects run by religious organizations.
